Wig Care Tips

Investing in a high-quality human hair wig is an investment in confidence and longevity. With the right care, your Haló wig will maintain its softness, shine, and undetectable finish for years. Proper washing, handling, and storage protect both the hair and delicate HD lace, ensuring your wig looks as natural and flawless as the day you received it.

Human Hair Wig Care Tips

  • Brush gently before washing to remove tangles, starting from the ends and working upward.

  • Use lukewarm water and a sulphate-free, gentle shampoo - ideally formulated for colour-treated or human hair wigs.

  • Wash in one direction only (from roots to ends) to avoid tangling the cuticles.

  • Avoid soaking the lace or rubbing the hairline, as this can loosen knots or damage delicate lace areas.

  • Condition mid-lengths to ends to prevent shedding.

  • Rinse thoroughly in cool water to seal the cuticle and maintain shine.

  • Pat dry with a towel (don’t rub or wring) and allow to air dry on a wig stand to maintain shape.

  • Minimise heat styling - if using heat tools, always apply a heat protectant spray and keep settings below 180°C.

  • Store properly on a satin-lined wig stand or in a silk bag when not in use to prevent friction and frizz.

  • Reduce sleeping, showering, or swimming while wearing your wig to extend its lifespan (but you can also wear your wig for all of these things if you want to!)

  • Regularly treat with a light serum or oil (sparingly) on the ends to maintain softness and lustre.

  • Professional deep conditioning every 4–6 weeks can help restore hydration and shine.

  • Avoid alcohol-based or heavy styling products that can dry out the hair or build up on the lace.

  • Always detangle before and after wearing to prevent matting and prolong the wig’s longevity.

HD Lace Wig Care Tips

  • Handle with care -HD lace is ultra-delicate and should never be pulled, stretched, or tugged roughly.

  • Avoid sharp nails or brushes near the lace to prevent tearing.

  • When applying adhesive, use a small amount and allow it to become tacky before pressing the lace down.

  • Never apply glue or spray directly onto the lace while it’s on your head - apply to the skin and let it dry slightly first.

  • Clean lace gently after removal using a cotton pad and 99% adhesive remover - do not scrub.

  • Allow lace to air dry completely on a wig stand before reapplication or storage.

  • Avoid applying makeup or tint sprays directly to wet lace, as it can stain or weaken the material.

  • Avoid excess heat directly on the lace area (eg. from blow dryers or hot tools), which can cause warping.

  • Reinforce delicate areas (like ear tabs and front edge) with care - small tears can be mended by professional repair.

  • Always remove adhesive residue fully before the next application to prevent clogging the lace knots.

  • Rotate your wigs where possible if you wear them daily this gives the lace time to rest and prevents premature thinning or shedding.

  • Store lace wigs upright on a stand or mannequin head to preserve the hairline shape and ventilation.

  • Avoid sleeping in HD lace wigs, as friction can fray the lace and loosen knots over time. (However this is just a recommendation and it is your own personal preference!)
